South Georgia Karting’s Owen Lloyd has continued his winning ways this winter, capturing a pair of CKNA Senior Heavy final victories at two of the premier events on the national Briggs 206 sprint racing calendar.
Lloyd opened his 2026 campaign in January with a commanding Senior Heavy performance at the CKNA Winter Nationals at 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida, earning the division's victory against a deep field.
He followed the Jacksonville score with another standout weekend at the CKNA Spring Nationals in March at Charlotte Motor Speedway, once again claiming the top step of the podium in Senior Heavy to continue his domination of the division. The victory marked Lloyd’s fourth career Spring Nationals win, further cementing his status as one of the most accomplished drivers in CKNA competition.
With the pair of wins, Lloyd now holds an impressive 12 victories across CKNA’s four major events, including:
-
5 Winter Nationals wins (Jacksonville)
-
4 Spring Nationals wins (Charlotte)
-
2 Summer Nationals wins (MCC and Pittsburgh)
-
1 Grand National win (New Castle)
“This winter has been a great start to the season,” said Lloyd. “To win at both Jacksonville and Charlotte against that level of competition means a lot, and it’s a testament to our South Georgia Karting team, the Capps engines and the MGM Espionage chassis.”
New Chapter: Move to VLR Chassis
Following a highly successful 3-1/2-year run, South Georgia Karting and Owen Lloyd have officially announced a transition to VLR Chassis for the remainder of the 2026 season.
The team expressed sincere appreciation to Paul and April Rice of MGM Chassis for their support and partnership throughout that time.
“We want to thank Paul and April Rice with MGM Chassis for everything they have done for us,” Lloyd added. “We’ve had a tremendous amount of success together and built a lot of great memories. More importantly, we consider them great friends.”
As of March 2026, Lloyd and SGK have begun their new program with VLR and are eager to take on the next challenge.
Looking Ahead
The debut of the new VLR package is set for July at the CKNA Summer Nationals at Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati, where Lloyd plans to continue his ambitious schedule of running all three Senior categories — Light, Medium and Heavy.
Lloyd will be aiming to become the first driver to win three or more CKNA Summer Nationals final wins in the short existence of the CKNA major event.
“We’re very excited about this next chapter with VLR,” Lloyd said. “It’s a new challenge, and we’re looking forward to getting on track in Cincinnati and seeing what we can accomplish.”
